Avalon Strings Ensemble comprises of violins, violas, cellos, double bass, acoustic guitar, ukuleles, harp, upright piano, percussion and guest vocalists. Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are welcome to join the comprehensive music program where they will learn how to play their instrument of preference with excellence.
Strings students learn how to read notes, rhythms, harmonies, melodies, improvise, compose, notate, conduct, develop aural skills, competency in technical and musicianship skills, musicality and general music knowledge. A wide variety of genre is taught and guest artists and excursions are part of the learning experience for our string musicians.
Avalon Strings provides many performance opportunities including performing in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House at the annual Combined Schools Instrumental String Music Festival.
There are performances with local primary and high schools as well as carols in the local Village community in the Christmas season.
Students also enrol in AMEB examinations which is affiliated with all Australian Universities.
