Canteen

The Avalon Public School Canteen is operated by the P&C Association. It follows the NSW Healthy School canteen strategy food and drink benchmark and includes a variety of hot and cold lunch and snack items, both packaged and freshly baked.

Canteen opening times

Opening times are Monday to Friday, from 9am-2pm.  The canteen serves Primary Students (Years 3-6) before school, at morning tea and lunch, and Infants students (K-2) at lunchtime.

Order from our canteen

There are two methods by which lunches can be ordered :

Order online

Via Spriggy Schools - an easy online ordering system.

Standing orders can be placed simply and in advance. Cut off time is 9.30am and the option of a late cut-off at 11.30am.

Paper bag orders

Students can place a paper bag with their order written on it and cash inside in the class box BEFORE class starts. NB This method is not available on Fridays - online orders only on Fridays.

Birthday celebration package

You can purchase a Birthday option on Spriggy Schools, of 99% natural fruit juice icy poles for your child's class.

Children come and collect these from the canteen through the day.

24 hours notice is required for icy pole orders.  Orders are placed through Spriggy School.

Want to volunteer?

A canteen manager and  assistant are employed by the P&C and are assisted by parent volunteers. Volunteers are always needed to join the monthly roster, or assist whenever possible, even if only for an hour or so.
