Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.
Welcome from our principal
Welcome to Avalon Public School, where every child is known, valued and challenged to thrive.
Avalon is more than a school, it is a connected and supportive community. Strong relationships between students, staff and families create a genuine sense of belonging, where every child is recognised as an individual and grows in confidence.
We are proud to be a high performing and inclusive school where high expectations are paired with care and support. Our teachers use explicit teaching to make learning clear and purposeful, ensuring students understand what they are learning, why it matters and how to improve. Learning is carefully differentiated so that every student is supported, challenged and extended at their point of need.
At Avalon, we believe education is about more than achievement. We are committed to developing capable learners and thoughtful, compassionate young people. Wellbeing is central to our approach, supported by our Positive Behaviour for Learning framework, which promotes Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best, and programs such as The Resilience Project that build gratitude, empathy and mindfulness. Students are given meaningful opportunities to have a voice, contribute to decision-making and engage in real-world problem solving, building critical and creative thinking and a strong sense of agency.
Students benefit from a rich range of opportunities across the arts, band, sport, leadership and technology, alongside targeted extension and enrichment programs that enable all learners to thrive.
A key strength of our school is our strong connection with our preschools and our local high school, supporting a seamless and confident transitions. Through shared learning experiences and authentic partnerships, students develop a sense of familiarity, aspiration and readiness for the next stage of their learning.
Set within our unique coastal environment, Avalon fosters wellbeing, connection and a love of learning. We work in close partnership with families to ensure every child is supported to achieve their personal best.
Our goal is to develop curious, capable and compassionate learners who are well prepared for their future in an ever-changing world.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family to Avalon Public School.
